Underhill Wood Nature Reserve

Jonathan Thomson is a conservationist, rewilder and steward of the Underhill Wood Nature Reserve, UK. From growing up on a small dairy farm in rural New Zealand between the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean, the marine and terrestrial natural world always played an important part in his life. In 2014, seeing the need to protect, conserve and restore threatened native fauna and flora grow more urgent, he and his wife bought 16 acres of undulating clay land on the Wiltshire / Dorset border. Their aim is to restore biodiversity and to provide a space for people to learn about nature.

Craft & Nature

Often I photograph stories that lie at the intersection of craft and nature. I document the dynamics of how we humans have learnt to work with materials to create useful and beautiful objects, pulling on my working understanding of both the natural world and the process of craft.
