People & Place

Our world is colourful and vibrant, and through photography, people can journey to places and meet those who perhaps they otherwise couldn’t. Practising ethical storytelling ensures that I honour people and their stories and don’t commodify them. I recognise that my own worldview means I have blind spots, which I mindfully attempt to navigate by learning about the cultural context of what I photograph.

Ruby Taylor: Native Hands

Wild potter, basket maker, bushcrafter Ruby Taylor facilitates immersive outdoor workshops in materials-led processes. Her mission is to reframe our culture’s approach to materialism through celebrating natural resources, their sustainable harvest and the traditional knowledge of working with them.

Nordic Iceskating

Outdoorswoman and Nordic skater Madde Burgstrom spends much of her time in the Swedish backcountry, finding sanctuary and restoration in nature. She journeys long distances on her skates over Sweden’s vast number of bodies of water.

Underhill Wood Nature Reserve

Land steward, rewilder and retiree Jonathan Thomson and his wife created the Underhill Wood Nature Reserve, where they are restoring biodiversity and have created a space for people to learn about nature.
